Udo's is a blend of essential fatty acids(EFA's). EFA's are fats that your body needs to work to it's best ability but that it can't produce on it's own. Aside from the internal workings which you can't see, what you will see is your hair, nails and skin will get stronger and less brittle, your cravings for garbage food will drop, and you may even begin to drop weight quicker.

Your body needs fat to operate. When we don't give it the fats it needs, it will store any kind of fat it can get (like potato chip fat and french fry fat) and hold it just in case there is a famine. It wants to be able to keep you alive. (Our bodies are so thoughtful that way). When you give your body a steady supply of good fats it will release the bad fats and not bother to store up so much because it's getting it on a regular basis (like when we retain water... if we drink water we stop retaining it - if we give our bodies EFA's it will get rid of fat deposits it doesn't need).

As for the question of the amount of fat and calories in Udo's. I generally explain it this way: A car needs both fuel and oil to operate. Without oil the engine seizes up and won't work and without fuel it just won't go. Putting fuel in the oil pan won't do any good and putting oil in the gas tank won't do any good. Think of Udo's as your oil and your food as your fuel.

Food is burned as energy whereas EFA's are used by our bodies for structural, hormonal and electrical functions, rather than energy.

PLEASE read my Letter from an Udo's Spokesperson. Bill Phillips gives us great instructions of what to do with this program food-wise, but this letter explains WHY. It's an amazing process and you'll never look at food the same way again.

For more information check out Udo Erasmus's Website and get the book "Fats that Kill, Fats that Heal" by Udo Erasmus. My favorite place to buy Udo's is Netrition. The 8.5 oz bottle is $9.95 and $17.95 for the 17 oz bottle, plus shipping. My local health food store sells it for $24 a bottle so I usually buy 2 and freeze the other.

Raylene's Jello

Here's a FANTASTIC snack I made up/adapted from others:

1 packet Sugar Free Jello - Your favorite flavor
2 cups low- or no-fat cottage cheese
1 serving of vanilla protein powder
1 can or about 2 servings of fresh fruit

Blend cottage cheese and protein powder together in the blender. While it blends, boil one cup of water and If your fruit is canned, drain and run under water to rinse off excess sugars. Divide the fruit between 4 containers (I use the glad throwaway containers - they are just the right size).

When water boils add it to jello and dissolve. Slowly add the jello to cottage cheese/protein powder mixture and let the blender run for about a minute.

Pour the cottage cheese mixture evenly between the 4 containers.

Chill for 4 or more hours. Add a dollop of Redi-whip to the top and enjoy (real whipped cream, come on - it's only 20 calories, 2g fat, less than 1 carb).

It's SO SO SO good and I can't even explain it. It's like mousse with little bits of nirvana in it. I do this with:
 - Orange Jello & Mandarin Orange Slices
 - Lime jello and crushed pineapple
 - strawberry jello and peaches
 - cranberry jello & fresh raspberries
For a real treat add 2/3 cups of strawberries to the cottage cheese mixture along with the jello and pour over fresh strawberries.
